Rudyard Kipling is awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature

On 10th December 1907, Rudyard Kipling, of “Jungle Book” fame was awarded the Noble Prize for Literature. This Nobel Laureate made him the first English-language writer to receive the prize, and its youngest recipient to date.

The world famous Mowgli and his friends, of Rudyard Kipling’s creation, are minted on many commemorative coins and medallions.

The Cook Islands, Australia, in 2011 issued a 5 Dollar, Elizabeth II, pure silver coins of various weights and dimensions. These stamps have Mowgli, Bageera, kaa, Bhalu, Garuda etc.
